Marilyn grew up in Westborough, Massachusetts and graduated from the School of the Worcester Art Museum with interest in photography, drawing, and painting.

She moved to the coast of Maine to attend a work-study program at the Maine Photographic Workshop in Rockport where she enjoyed the beauty of the seacoast before moving to the mountains of Vermont.
Warren, Vermont in the Mad River Valley is where she has called home since then. The mountains and farmland have been an inspiration visually and physically. Through cycling, hiking, and skiing, she is able to observe and collect the many aspects of the natural landscape to use as elements of light and perspective, creating her distinctive style of design and color in the studio.

Marilyn primarily works in bold pastel on paper, but also uses brushes and paint on canvas. Her work can be seen at the Frog Hollow Gallery on Church St. in Burlington, at the Artisans’ Gallery on Bridge St. in Waitsfield, and at Art in the Village on Main St. in Warren, Vermont. She welcomes visitors to her Warren studio by appointment.
In addition to her artistic career and athletic endeavors, Marilyn and her husband, Adam, are both certified arborists in Warren, where they own and operate Whitney Tree Service.
